Squishy Circuits Play Dough uses common household ingredients, but it is a different recipe from the "standard" Kindergarden recipe.
Buy the Cream of Tartar in bulk either in local store bins or via amazon. I used the St Thomas.edu website's recipe with my fourth graders to great success. However, one group took a "mad scientist" route and tried for black play dough. The result was an oily mess that may or may not conduct properly. We will know after 12/1/14.
I am now salivating for our own school Laser and vinyl cutters -- now that I have had access to Casey's a few times, I am poised to look for funding sources to bring these machine/technology to our school and district.
On November 5th, I had the opportunity to take an all day workshop for educators on 21st century learning through MAKE. I learned about this Light Box Diorama project -- this puts a spin on the traditional diorama-rama by adding circuits and a scene to light up. I'm really looking forward to adding this to my program.

Maker Resource Ideas
I've included some of the same sources that I have used for ideas and resources as I build my own Maker Space.
